How to calculate the area of a Bézier curve

Standard tools for calculating the area of a curve exist only in CAD programs. For publishing systems, however, there is a free CorelDRAW macro, Get Area, that does exactly that: it calculates the area of a closed Bézier curve. Get Area returns the result in square millimetres, centimetres and metres, and also reports the perimeter length of the curve.
